Volunteer Requirements

Fido’s Landing INC NFP

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Fido’s Landing! Volunteers are the heart of our organization, and we couldn’t do this life-saving work without you. To ensure the safety of our animals, team, and community, we ask that all volunteers meet the following requirements:

General Requirements:

  • Age Requirement: Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. Youth aged 14–17 may volunteer with parent or guardian supervision and signed consent.
  • Commitment: Volunteers are asked to commit to at least 4 hours per month, though more time is always appreciated.
  • Application: All volunteers must complete a Volunteer Application and sign a Liability Waiver before beginning.
  • Training: Attendance at a Volunteer Orientation Session is required before participating in any activities.
  • Dependability: Volunteers are expected to show up on time for scheduled shifts and notify us in advance if unable to attend.
  • Animal Handling: Volunteers working directly with dogs must be comfortable around animals and willing to follow all handling protocols for safety.
  • Communication: A working email address or phone number is required to receive updates, schedules, and important information.

Preferred Qualities:

  • Positive attitude and a passion for helping animals
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to pitch in wherever needed—cleaning, walking dogs, transport, events, admin tasks, and more

Specialized Roles May Also Require:

  • Valid driver’s license and insurance (for transport volunteers)
  • Background check (for roles involving public outreach or sensitive data)
  • Foster application (should you wish to foster)
