Our Story

Since 2020, Fido’s Landing has been dedicated to helping dogs and families. From humble beginnings as a foster-based rescue, we now operate a community-centered organization focused on rescue, outreach, and support. We’re here to make sure every dog gets a second chance and every family finds hope.

Fido’s Landing has always been about more than a building, it’s about the dogs, the people who love them, and a community committed to giving them a second chance.

After opening our Homewood rescue facility, we were incredibly excited to finally have a physical space to call home. Unfortunately, over time, we encountered significant issues with the building, including ongoing water intrusion, flooding and plumbing concerns, HVAC problems, and other structural and environmental issues. Despite our team’s best efforts, these challenges began affecting our ability to safely and sustainably operate from the facility.

Ultimately, we made the difficult decision to leave the Homewood location and transition Fido’s Landing back to a foster-based rescue model.

But one thing is important: Fido’s Landing never closed.

Our dogs continued receiving veterinary care. Our fosters continued opening their homes. Our volunteers continued showing up. Transports continued arriving, adoption events continued, and dogs continued finding their forever families.

Leaving our building was not the end of Fido’s Landing—it was simply the end of that chapter.

Today, we are taking our time as we explore what the future home of Fido’s Landing may look like. We’re dreaming bigger, learning from our experiences, and making sure our next step is one that allows us to continue growing responsibly.

Until then, our incredible foster families are our “facility,” our community is our support system, and our mission remains exactly the same:

Fido’s Landing is still here. Still rescuing. Still growing. And we’re just getting started. 🐾
